| This song really doesn't bear translation. It isn't subtle in the slightest. Clearly, its talking about how carbon-based lifeforms die and return their elements to the world. Isaac Brock is an extremely fatalistic fella', and he wrote a song about how there's no meaning to life since you're doomed to simply donate your carbon to another creature in the life cycle. Done. That said, though, its absolutely one of the top 3 Modest Mouse songs of all time. | |

The lyrics posted are dead-on. The only problems I could find was that it should say "dough" instead of "doe" in the line "i got no chaps, no chains not much doe" and "in front of your wife" should've been "of her being wife" The beat is solid and the lyrics are relatable to anyone who grew up around the working class anywhere. What else could you want from Rascal? As far as lyrical interpretation goes, the song isn't exactly subtle. It blatantly states what he wants to say. If you can't understand it, I can't exactly help now, can I? It's rather clearly about youthful decisions and consequences. |
