Here's a helpful link: http://bocpages.org/wiki/Turquoise_Hexagon_Sun
It suggests that the song includes samples from the Hexagon Sun studios, which is Boards of Canada's studio. |

| An Horse – Brain On A Table Lyrics

I think it could be taken literally, as if Kate is talking to a friend hanging on to life in a coma. It could also be interpreted metaphorically though--like all she wants is to be accepted by the person and she cares about them terribly, but the person is dead and unresponsive to her. She recognizes that they don't care for her but it's really important to her that they do. It's a great song, anyway. I love An Horse. |

I normally don't listen to bands like this, but this song is just awesome. It was my immediate favorite off the CD. I'd say the meaning is pretty straightforward... |

| Sigur Rós – All Alright Lyrics

I agree that Jonsi has wronged his lover, but hasn't told him yet, and feels really guilty. He wants to tell him but is scared of ruining their relationship, which is perfect and happy (I'm sitting with you/sitting in silence/listening to birds/it feels like home). The "you...you are still next to me, alright" means, in my opinion, that Jonsi is afraid that his lover will leave him when Jonsi finally tells him the truth. Like they're together now, but not afterwards. I think the whole song takes place before the truth gets out. |

I keep thinking how funny it would be if they played this song at a concert, because only the true DCFC fans would know that they did this song. A lot of people would be really confused. |

| Regina Spektor – Ode to Divorce Lyrics
|
She's just divorced with her husband. The part about the killer kiss refers to her ex being with another woman, and Regina knows it's going to end the same way as her--so the kiss is destructive and deadly to the woman.
I think the main theme of the song is dependency...she's so used to living off of her husband and now she's completely alone, and she doesn't have anything. She's not used to fending for herself, I guess. It's a beautiful song. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – A Movie Script Ending Lyrics

Maybe it's about feeling the need to keep on moving? He goes back to visit his hometown, but he's never satisfied and he wants to leave. The town isn't like it used to be. He doesn't realize what he's doing until he's back on the road. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – We Looked Like Giants Lyrics

The lines "I don't know about you, but I'd swear on my name they could smell it on me, I've never been too good with secrets" and "God damn the black night with all of its foul temptations, I've become what I always hated when I was with you there" make me think that this song is about Ben cheating on someone with a girl, or the girl has a boyfriend but is fooling around with Ben. Obviously he's trying to keep it a secret but hates himself for doing it, because it's such a terrible thing to do. He can't help it, though, because he wants it so much. He's scared someone will find out about it.
Also, it really sounds like he's singing "Than anyone would ever guess", not get. That would make more sense. |

I think it's about a metaphorical distance, too...like he and the girl had just broken up, and now he can't be with her, no matter how much he wants to, because she's far away. |

| Stars – Going, Going, Gone Lyrics

I always took this song to be about two friends that have broken off their friendship because the narrator's friend thought her boyfriend was more important than friendship. The narrator is pretty upset about it--she tries to think badly of her friend ("your face is scarred with age, you're 23 but how can that be") but really wants her back.
It's just the way I thought of it as. |

Maybe it's about him learning to deal with past mistakes...he can't walk through the wall and automatically make it all better, but he has to learn how to fix it with time. |

This song makes me think of a dream that someone is having about having an '84 Pontiac, and near the end of the song when the music changes it's like the person wakes up and realizes that it wasn't real. |

Has anyone heard the John Mayer cover of this? I didn't think it was possible to make a decent acoustic cover of an electronic song, but it's really good. |

The Weepies never cease to amaze me. I haven't listened to them for very long but they're sooo good.
I think this song is about learning to cope with past mistakes that you've made, and dealing with what your life has become. So many people feel this way, but we never want to believe it... |
