Agreed, the last verse, especially the last line about the crows is just amazing. Especially because it mentions the crows on the power lines at the beginning, and then the image comes back and just ties the whole song together. Beautiful song, kind of didn't notice it for a while amongst the millions of other songs on the album but now that I have, it's one of my favourites for sure. |

See, I always thought that the "La la lie" part was referring to the fact that his friends will lie for him, that they always have his back (even if it means lying for him.) Also, for some reason I imagined the whole part with the movie theatre as being about some other girl than his girlfriend, or whoever the main girl in the song is.. which is maybe why I imagine it being about his friends lying for him, for instance to cover it up, so the first girl doesn't know about it. It seems to me like the original girl has hurt him, but he's saying, I don't care, because I've got friends that will always have my back. And yet, he will still end up coming back to this girl in the end. When I first heard it, I thought he was saying "I'm coming back to my girl, but she'll lie" instead of "by July." which also makes it seem like he knows that she'll still lie to him, but he just keeps going back to her. But that's probably just me hearing things weirdly. |
