here's what i think. "I'd surely like to rest But the energy gets the best of me" "Is there ever a time When the state of sleeping willingly leaves my mind" rather than a self-realization or some kind of life awakening situation, i think the writer here is actually physically exhausted from a life filled with long nights and brief stints of decent sleep. sometimes you get home from a night of work, it could be midnight or later, and you are just weirdly awake and don't really want to go to sleep, even when you know you should because you have to wake up and do it all again in a matter of hours. the state of sleep never willingly leaves his mind because he wishes he could just sleep for as long as he wished, with no real obligation or prior commitment. |
