First of all, I have been listening to this song essentially nonstop since I first heard it... It's absolutely amazing. Seabird is my new favorite band! They sound like a cross between The Fray and The Script and they're going to be the next big thing, I'm absolutely positive =) Now, onto the lyrics. This song is about how the singer had a relationship with a girl, Maggie, who couldn't take anything seriously and ended up breaking his heart. He wants her back but only for one night (one dance). Even though he still cares about her he's afraid of admitting this to himself and giving her a second chance, lest she hurt him again. Its like he's trying to cover up his broken heart (loneliness) with physical want (the one dance), thinking this will satisfy him. Amazing song, lyrically and in that addicting melody |
