They call this 'Hopelandic', because Sigur Ros kind of made their own language/words to fit the sounds of their music. It really is quite amazing, a nice marriage of words and sound. |

I feel like she's talking to herself, maybe about an ending relationship. Also I'm pretty sure the lyrics at the end are:
''Why would you think, your boy could become
The man who could make you sure he was the one'' |

I'd have never come up with the whole pregnancy thought, but it seems like a possibility. Also because Tori said the song is about her being raped, lines like 'Boy you best pray that I bleed real soon' could definitely meaning her being pregnant.
I, however, always thought this song is about not being able to express how you feel. |

I'm with beautifulbeat, he's singing about how the consequences and products of situations are often the complete opposite of what you expect. Love can teach you to lie, life certainly teaches you to die, and stones teaching you to fly is just a generalised metaphor for all of this. As unlikely as stones teaching one to fly may seem it can, in the end, turn out that all the weights in life, the struggles and upset and pain, and the things that hold you back, can ultimately be the things that teach you to fly; to be free. Beautiful.

It's so funny to see all the comments you guys did to this song, because they're all so very different. I like somedayxxbway's view about the typewriter thing, dunno if it's true though. I however, sorry MacMerg, don't think this song is about anorexia. It's just too damn easy. I bet a lot of people hear the song, hear the word 'eet' and immediately feel like it's about anorexia. Like I said, too easy, Regina was never easy in her songs. I just wish I knew what's the exact meaning of the word 'eet'. I personally think, like woniwilly said, she is just litterally trying to hum the melody to the song she is trying to remember. I love the song. |
