| Giant Drag – Kevin is Gay Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Could it be $7.50, and therefore a wage? Perhaps it's about being stuck in a dead end minimum wage job and living off of it, eating off of it, and perhaps even liking it because it's so simple. "You're all I need." I think it's either that or the 750mg interpretation. | |
| The Mars Volta – Since We've Been Wrong Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Okay, you guys are gonna shit a brick. This is about a ghost. I'll break it down. Do you remember how you wore that dress (black funeral dress) it slit my sight beneath the eyelids (laying in the grave his eyes are closed but he sees her because he's a ghost) do you remember what you said to me (this goes with the next line, see description below) what course has given you the right to stray (unsolved problem in life is keeping him from the afterlife) And in your living tomb I'm stuck but safe (she is his living tomb, he's stuck in limbo because of the unsolved problem with "her") the clocks are ticking fast with every breath (alluding to the problem in question or maybe time left in her life) Since we've been wrong (whatever they're wrong about is the problem in question) I've been part awake (part awake = in limbo = kept from going into the afterlife) since we've been wrong (repeat) you will never, ever know me (this is the first evidence to what the problem is, it implies that it is a secret about himself) (no need to break down the next few verses, they just talk about his uncertainty that keeps him there) What took you so long I'm not sure all the way but my heart, it asks just one more time Are you still amiss (are you still amiss meaning does she still not know whatever secret it is about him, does he need to stay still) One day a rain will come to wash away (this and the next island is about judgement day) the earth that held us was no island I have become ingrown inside this skin (this and next line totally about his ghostlyness) I'll find a way out through those eyelids And all the days become a castaway (a castaway, stranded between life and afterlife) I seem to think I don't belong here (on earth, supposed to have moved on but stuck as wandering spirit) |

| Bayside – Dear Your Holiness Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| As I grew older and saw more of the world and learned more, I realized God doesn't exist (to each their own views). I was raised Catholic and to me this was a major shock to the way I thought. I was used to praying and talking to God, and to someone who has previously talked to God, talking directly to him even if you don't believe in him comes naturally. I believe Anthony has made it very clear in his songs, especially this one, that he does not believe in God whatsoever. Sure he doesn't come out and say it because Christians judge atheists negatively (I don't even like that word "atheist"). | |
| The Pink Spiders – Little Razorblade Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Does anybody find it ironic that not a single person in the video is wearing rollerblades? Every single one of them is wearing skates. Idk, i figured in a song about razor blades they would be wearing roller blades lol. maybe its just me. | |

| The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus – Godspeed Lyrics | 16 years ago |

OKAY I went all out on this one and there are some major inconsistencies. (by the way I am completely open to counter-argument so if you can point out any flaws in what I'm about to say I welcome it): The war is Vietnam (for those who didn't know) because it was going on in 1970. Someone here said because it ended in 1970... it didn't end in 1970. It was still going on. But that's debatable considering it was never officially declared. Anyways. Here's the inconsistency: the man he killed would have to be an enemy vietnamese soldier (north vietnamese) so either viet cong or NVA or NFL. Well I looked up the weapons they had available. The United States soldiers and the vietnamese that were on our side (southern vietnamese) had bayonets but... all north vietnamese forces had no bayonets supplied to them whatsoever EXCEPT those taken from American forces. So this man would have had to have already fought American forces and have some kind of blood on his hands. The likelihood of him being handed a bayonet by one of his comrades is also unlikely since having procured one in the first place would have been hard enough. How do we know what the chamber being empty means? He could have just fired all of his ammo or not been supplied any. Obviously thats not the case but still thats something to think about. (Just thought of this: Then again it doesn't say he checked the clip, just the chamber meaning that he had not jacked a round into the chamber FROM THE CLIP. so disregard what I said before the parentheses. but it is interesting to think about) Vietnamese were also very poor. They lived in friggn huts. How would he have photographs of his family, especially more than one? Nobody has addressed the most significant thing in the song. It is called Godspeed because of the letter. What was the letter? If it is a final letter to his family then it's not like he gave it to the man that killed him. First off assuming this man is vietnamese, he and his killer don't speak the same language. Second, in the song he says "Godspeed this letter away from here" but then he says "Godspeed this letter away from YOU". Anyone? Any challengers? Are these not sufficient inconsistencies? Another thing. This man is about to die and doesn't break a sweat! What fears does he have to stamp this letter with? I would think fears about his family and their well being or something. OKAY SO: after further review and pondering my only conclusion is that the man he killed has done the same thing. The vietnamese man has blood on his hands (figuratively) from killing the american soldiers (and thats how he got the bayonet) and has realized they are the same as him. probably seen their pictures of kids and stuff (still dont know how the gook got photos) so all the tears and fears are from his previous war experiences and now he has realized that they are all the same and has decided not to fight anymore. I still have not concluded what the letter says or what kind it is and how they could understand each other audibly. Song still has the same meaning but I don't think people realize that evidence points to the vietnamese soldier being a veteran, not a newbie. He's killed some people. |

Ok guys. I'm a christian here and all that and yes most of their songs have christian elements but "You said, you said that you would die for me" doesn't have to do with Jesus. Jesus didn't say he would die for us, he just did it. You're looking at it in the wrong tense. I interpret this to be about a failing marriage. Some people here have mentioned marriage but most say that it they were going to get married. The thing is they already are. Softly we tremble tonight, (uh.. whatever) picture perfect fading smiles are all that's left in sight, (smiles are fading because the honey moon is over so to speak) I said I'd never leave. You'll never change (marriage is a lifelong commitment but there are just some things about his spouse that he doesnt like that will never change and its hard to live with her) I'm not satisfied with where I'm at in life. (self explanatory, see above line, marriage failing) that was the first paragragh, the rest is self explanatory except a few parts: With all I ever wanted, it comes with a price. (all he ever wanted was to be with this girl forever but the price he pays for having her forever is not loving her as much) we made plans to grow old, believe me there was truth in all those stories that I told. (plans to grow old- be together forever, the stories he told were about how they would live their lives out together and how much he loved her and he is saying that he meant all that at the time. but now it has changed) You must live for me, too... (the spouse is incooperative or stubborn to change and is living only for themselves, perhaps not willing to meet half way) OKAY well that was my interpretation. I am a new user. I am very open to feedback and would love a reply and/or personal message of if you think i am wrong or right or half right etc. Also there was one part that I myself didnt understand. Do any of you know what he means by the "cat and mouse" line? I prefer a personal message because I believe it will send me an email telling me i have a message. |
