Its about being the 'master of the wind'.... Or the 'master of your own destiny', same thing. Profound words by Manowar with metaphors to every cloud having a silver lining, strive for your dreams, the tunnel may have a lot of hardship but once you reach the light at the end, its all worth it. |

This has been my favourite song of all time for years now. Such a profound, poetic masterpiece! As always Halfords delivery is out of this world and gives the impression he's feeling every word. We live our whole lives according to societys expectations, we allow ourselves to be dictated to just because we want an easy life. We spend so many years plodding through doing the same things year after year, that we forget our inner most desires and dreams, until one day we realise have been conditioned. Only its now too late to change, chase your dreams, or be yourself because your life has already passed. You're old, society has changed so much you dont recognise it anymore, it terrifies you! You realise it has all been pointless and a waste of time, you're too old to fight, you cant go back to being part of 'their' machine, and you cant go on. Life has passed by and you achieved nothing that you wanted, leading inevitably to. . . . . . Death. |

| Rob Halford – Sad Wings Lyrics

I'm pretty sure in this song Rob is singing about his departure from Judas Priest and the bad feelings between him and the rest of the band in the years following. Sounds to me like Rob is also expressing regret at not doing more to patch up the relationship with the other Judas Priest members, and it makes his sad that although he has admitted mistakes and wrongdoings and tried to put it right, its a shame his former band members couldnt do the same. Rob is also saying that he wont feel bad anymore for leaving the band, having a successful solo career, and Judas Priest remaining bitter is only ever going to hurt them. 'Were you so dried up from all your fear?
Thought you've make me feel impossible
You were wrong now who looks like the fool'. To me, its quite a straightforward song, and i love the chorus reference to Judas Priests 75' Sad Wings Of Destiny. Another explosive moment by the Metal God himself. |

This is mine and my girlfriends song, and has been since we first met. It paints such a beautiful picture of connection between people, be it a group of friends or one special friend/lover. Lene is a fantastic lyricist and never fails to stop me dead in my tracks by recreating such familiar and special scenes. |
