the replies here are funny and ridiculous. Didier is completely right. it's about drugs. Every lyric is *chosen* by Alex for a reason. Drug terminology is there for a reason. They went to Joshua Tree, the middle of the desert (i've been there) where it's POPULAR to take peyote cactus, shrooms or LSD. Josh Homme is also an obvious tripper. Listen to all his music. |

bahoevel is completely wrong. the band was about to break up when they hit it big. They were not "living the life" at all. It's been said in interviews that basically the shows they were doing were in front of all their friends and that's it, so he wanted to keep the lyrics simple and not feel embarrassed talking about his current gf. this song is about partying though. It's about having a day job ("We finished our own lives"), and then going out anyways afterward and just getting shitfaced. (no quote needed i think, since half the song is about this haha) It's also about their struggle (or many peoples' struggle) to find direction once you're older. They were in a band just like they'd always dreamed ("We used to dream"), partying and having fun, but they are not making any headway, and they keep getting older and are beginning to realise it ("I don't wanna worry about dying"), and, like most in the same position, have decided to ignore it ("i just wanna worry about sunshine girls"). excellent song by the way. |
