Midtown – Whole New World / God is Dead Lyrics 16 years ago
The "God is Dead" part of this song has always intrigued me because of its darkness and its slow, quiet terror. Some might say that it's meant to express how horrible the world would be without God, but i don't think that's why the band called it "God is Dead." It may have to do with the next part of the song, "Whole New World" which to me is somewhat anti-God. The line that reads "Save yourself there's no salvation" is particularly anti-God, in my opinion, because it's saying "Live for your own good and don't expect any miracles or any heaven."

Guardian – Dr. Jones & The Kings of Rhythm Lyrics 16 years ago
Sounds to me like a story of how one of the band members of Guardian was transformed by an experience he had when meeting a God-believing band leader of another band.

This band leader did his musical preaching in Memphis one time but was somehow kicked out by the people there. But the singer followed along with Dr. Jones and I guess this was one of the reasons he became inspired to help form the Guardian band and perform Christian music.

A Perfect Circle – Imagine Lyrics 16 years ago
You're right. While Lennon's version of the music in this song is pleasant and peaceful, the music in the version by this band is darker and has a very hostile sound to it. It seems almost like the song is exposing the potential evil behind this idealistic vision of life. Think about it. Every dictator in history, including the bad ones, has posed themselves as working toward the good of mankind. They may not have all shared the same ideologies that are mentioned in this song, but that doesn't mean they can't be misused. Even a utopic dream about life such as this could cause violence and suffering, depending on how people intend to accomplish that dream.

Galactic Cowboys – No Problems Lyrics 16 years ago
The theme of this song is something like this: Material possessions may solve some problems, but they will not fulfill one's desire to have someone stand beside them. In other words, it's one thing to donate to charity in order to gain good publicity, but it's even better to do it out of a true desire for the happiness of those in need of charity.

In the first paragraph, the singer realizes that in spite of everything he could give to the people mentioned in the song, they would still be lacking in love and friendship, whether they have many possessions or not. Their problems are much more seemingly insurmountable because they are lonely. It's up to him, just like it's up to anyone else, to provide them with friendship and encouragement.

The singer then acknowledges that unlike the people in the song, he does have people who care about him and therefore his own problems don't seem nearly as difficult to face. He even relinquishes his right to complain about his problems because he knows that many other people have a lot less in terms of friendship and love than he does. Without those two things, he would probably be as unhappy and as unable to deal with his struggles as the boy, the girl, the lady, and the man.

"Given all that I have
In the palm of my hand

There's still a little boy
With blisters on his feet
There's still a lady crying
Tears fall for me"

The lines above basically say that material possessions are not always worthwile because they do not always serve their purpose. Friendship, however, is always worthwile because it helps people to feel inspired and makes their problems seem a little less unconquerable. That, to me, is one of the things the song is trying to express.

Fastball – Nothing Lyrics 16 years ago
To me, this song is more about encouragement than anything else. It seems to be talking to a loner or a "reject" in school who lives a horrible life because of the people around him, both in and out of home.

"Well they've been writing your name on a bathroom wall
But it don't mean nothing, it don't mean nothing
They wanna ruin your life, they wann see you take a fall
But it don't mean nothing, it don't mean nothing at all"

The reason they say "It don't mean nothing at all" is because the fact that people are mean to you means nothing in terms of who you are. It only means that the people making fun of you are scared of you because they think you represent the "loser" inside of them.

"Stupid people say stupid things
And it'll drive you right up the wall
Sometimes I feel the same way too
But it don't mean nothing at all"

In essence, the paragraph above is saying "Don't worry about yourself. It's the people treating you badly who are the 'stupid' ones. I know that because they've done the same thing to me."

I especially like the line that says "You gave it your best shot and they shot you down." It represents a situation where the loner or reject tries to be socially acceptable to the people around him. But if he isn't perfect and doesn't meet every standard, he gets laughed at and pushed away instead of accepted. At least that's how I see it.

I'm not exactly sure what "You got the short end of a shitty deal" means. It could just mean that the people treating you badly aren't willing to do you any favor unless that favor benefits themselves more than you.

Fastball – Seattle Lyrics 16 years ago
Pretty depressing song about, in my opinion, people who live in near poverty.

The song title "Seattle" and the lyric "'cause it's raining all the time" are visual syumbols associated with the harshness of life lacking in some common necessities.
