I know what this song is really about. But when I first heard it, it was one that really struck a nerve because of what I was going through. I don't necessarily think it's one that is "about me", but it fit the situation. This is my interpretation... I believe this song could be a love story very easily. A woman leaves town to be with her significant other. Leaving everything she knows, including a guy friend who warned her about the other guy who he was friends with, so he knew the guy pretty well, and she just overlooked what he was telling her because she was in denial, and believed she could "change" him. She returns back to town after the relationship ends. She really did love the guy though, it was one of those that feels like it sticks with you for months, even years. Where you can't be with anybody else because you see that other person's face. She smiles and laughs and tries to be happy again, but the certain sparkle is gone from her eyes because of a broken heart. Her guy friend who has always secretly been in love with her waits for her to get better. His love goes beyond looks because he would do anything for her. But he can't help but get a little mad when she runs to him for comfort because he warned her about the other guy and so he's jealous. So he's being sarcastic when he asks her if she thought love was everything it was cracked up to be. He's afraid he's going to be put in the friend zone again, so he's doing everything to get his chance with her. But she has to find herself again, and learn to love herself. It's harder for him to stand by and wait, because he's afraid another man is going to sweep her off her feet. And he knows he's the one for her, and she's too blind to see it because "he's just a friend". Sadly in this song, it really doesn't have a happy ending, but it's just a vicious cycle. I also like to think it has a lot of astrological/zodiac references in it. Lots of symbolism. I love it!

Guns N' Roses – Sweet Child O' Mine Lyrics 13 years ago
I'm in high school, and after my boyfriend of three years and i got back together after a crucial break up (like every teenage couple), he dedicated this song to me at a school dance and sang it. It's so true since he's graduated and I'm still in highschool now. I'm still a child in his eyes and will always be. He always says I can make him feel like he's a rebellious 13 yr old again when I'm 16. I believe that this song is also about being young and childish emotionally and spiritually. I still act like a child basically because I'm the youngest in my family. And most of that is a mental factor. My mom has the mind of a 20 yr old and she's in her fifties. Age doesn't matter. This is a note to the new generation out there... Please don't grow up too fast. Try to be a kid for as long as you can. Ive had a hard life so I know... Wait to have sex (because really it's not what it's all cracked up to be, unless your a frisky teenager and that's just something they all think about at one time), and yess jobs are required in life but just don't rush life. Be a kid for as long as possible. Because once your done with school, it's not a summer break anymore. It's life, and it can be a really scary thing at first.

The Doors – Wild Child Lyrics 14 years ago
I remember in the book "When the Music's Over: Behind Every Doors' Song", a book that Jim Morrison read that was about some dude in Africa. He said that he wanted to disappear into Africa to get away from everything cause he didn't want to be a big rock god. And of course this song is about indians, Jim Morrison was a hippie shaman. Indians were a huge impact on his life.

As for the book Wild Child, I believe it's a money-makin'-scheme. Same as Strange Days. It was like 40 years ago, I know I can't remember that far back. I don't know, there's just too much detail.

And I believe this song is exactly explaining me. I remember singing this at a school talent show when I was no older than 5. The teachers just stared at me like "Omigod some little 5 year old girl is singing a Doors' song!"

I don't believe it was. I personally believe it was a money-making scheme, like Patricia Kennely writing Strange Days. Everyone says they never saw these two women but who knows... this is another mystery about Jim Morrison we will never know.

The Doors – Five to One Lyrics 14 years ago
There is no real meaning to this song. One day while meditating, Jim just told Robby Krieger, Ray Manzareck, and John Densmore what to make the music sound like and then he started to sing it. It could be about races, sexes, the war.... the possibilities could go on forever.... it could be anything you want to believe it's about, that's the great thing about The Doors, most of their songs were double meaning and you could believe whatever you wanted.

There is a first for every great band. The Beatles were the first long haired band, The Doors were the first evil band.

Live on Jim!
