I never really got this song, but then it just kinda clicked. I think it's about the time when you start to doubt your faith, or you're in a place where you want to believe but you just can't really feel anything. Then when you turn away you realise "There's a hole in the wall". The line "I gave it all away and I lost who I am" It's kinda like who you are is your faith and it's not just a part of your life, it is your life. Then when you turn away from it you lose yourself and you want to get back to that place where you where, You want a motive, or you want God to "swallow" you whole or consume you. I think it's like a spiritual desert or darkness. That's my interpretation. |
