A quick opinion on a line I don't think we have really looked at. During the almost 'electronic' voice section. 'You can learn how to live' is sung in that media voice, and someone whispers (breathe) I believe this shows how the media and social expectations make living so complicated with standards, when life is really so simple. All you have to do is breathe. |

Lyrics are incorrect. During the bridge it is "The new sun comes by the hour Ghosts slowly disappear in the fog" Not "The noose uncaused by the arm Goes slowly disappears" And uncaused isn't actually a real word. |

| This is not a religious song, or at least in that sense. It's probably about cults, not biblical fantasies. | |

These lyrics are slightly off. Its not "A vision I will display" during the soft part. It's "A vision I will displace" |

No. Just no. It's the Heavens Gate cult (this has been confirmed before). To sum it up quickly, it was a cult that believed that a space ship was hidden behind a comet (that was going to destroy the earth), and the only way to get onto that spaceship (to be saved) was to die before the earth was 'recycled' in their terms. They committed mass suicide in 1997. |

In contrast, I think that what the last stanza is to be taken literally. I think what he is saying is that our society will be finished when the thing we are most proud of is something that should be common sense, in this case equal rights. In other words, equal rights should be a given, not something to consider, and if that is truly our greatest pride then we must not have much else to be proud of. |

| The "sin" being referred to in this song is most likely the fact that as the executioner, he executes (kills - sins) in order to make a living, therefore paying for for everything in his life. Because this is only his job, he does not really care for this sin. As you say, it most likely refers to literal debts, feeding his children means providing for his family, and his cigarette represents his luxuries. | |
