okay, while a good song is usually left open for interepretation, and technically all your guys' ideas are right, this is what i think. i get the romeo and juliet type of feel from it. the forbidden relationship. "we are ready for the siege/we are armed up to the teeth" -we're prepared for whats coming. "be careful how you live and breathe/release whats brewing underneath" -the girl is high class. she's been with this poor guy, fallen in love with him. but she's got to watch how she acts around her family, be careful she doesnt give off any hints of the other guy, because you know when you're with someone, you tend to pick up their maneurisms. but she's getting sick of her family. "how many times do you want to die/how many ways do you want to die" -she cant be herself, to me, its like her soul is dying, her spirit, she cant be happy the way she wants. "do you feel safe again? look over your shoulder. very carefully, look over your shoulder" -she thinks she's in the clear and she can just be with him without her knowing, but they're getting more serious and her family is getting close to finding out. "we can laugh about it now/we hope everything works out" -sometimes its easier to laugh about horrible things, they hope things will get better "be careful how you lick your wounds/believe the change is coming soon" -they suspect about the boy, harp on her for it. she has to take it like she would any other thing, not as if they are trying to destroy the love she has for her soul mate, and he's trying to get her to believe things will change. "you used to do a little, but a little wont fly/right before you hit your prime/thats when we fell in love but not the first time" -when he saw she wasnt like her family (her attraction for him) he fell in love with her. the "little" she used to do was not act like her family, but as they're trying to be together, a little wont do anymore, she's going to have to seperate herself from them. and each time she does, he falls more and more in love with her. "can i please you still/renaming your fathers will/or does it make you ill/let us bruise their knees/we will aim straight for the feed" -they found out. her parents are more upset then expected, and he's asking her if she still loves him after defying her parents, or has she changed her mind. he's telling her they will stick together, they'll defeat everyone, bring them to their knees, make them accept their love. "you will be relieved, so relieved so relieved/turn on full desire/feel the sparks of the friendy fire/misery inspires" -she's skeptical about being with him, he's telling her how in love with her he is, the friendly fire is the fire that burns for her (corny as that sounds) and the misery he has when he's without her inspires him to fight for her. "your throat has been cut several times before/never noticed the size of the flow/it cant be ignored" -he's finally realizing how much this is hurting her and he feels bad. "you said you believed it but believing wont fly/right before you hit your prime/thats when we fell in love but not the first time" -when they first got together, she told him she believed it would work, but now that its come out, believing it wont make it work, it takes work and just because she believes it doesnt mean her family will accept it, and since they wont accept it she's torn, which basically means they cant be together. "and when its all over and you open your eyes/you'll see the room turned on its side/and you'll be lying by the note on the floor, signed--the royal we, love the royal we" -they're ending and she doesnt know how much it will hurt her. the room is a metaphor for her emotions and heart and the royal we to me usually means royalty, and in this relationship, he believed they were the royal ones because their love was so strong. idk, i might be wrong, but this is what the song means to me. |
