Baby, Darling, Doll Face, Honey Now I don't mean to cause you worry It's only hands in my pocket And the Queen on my money Did you know I've been wanting you? so leave your locks on the latches If you bring the water, I'll bring the matches |

Baby, Darling, Doll Face, Honey Now I don't mean to cause you worry It's only hands in my pocket And the Queen on my money Did you know I've been wanting you? so leave your locks on the latches If you bring the water, I'll bring the matches 'cause we are fires in the night We are fires in the night but they don't give a fuckk. they love eachother so much they'll take a bathe in candle light "we" incorporates 2 or more people, in this case, a couple and "are" is a direct comparison to something inanimate, like fire. so it could be a metaphor.. basically saying you and i are the fire that lights the night> Let us bathe you in our heart 'cause we are fires in the night sounds like a cleansing love, something like baptism not that its a religious lyric or anything> Come on get up Romeo Don't you know what the time is? It's the fall of rock 'n roll, That's what the news said just my opinion |

| Julian Casablancas – 4 Chords of the Apocalypse Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
this song is about someone who's waiting for a relationship to end. At the the same time, its about that same someone keeping his composure when the end enevitably comes. I hear it in your silence, when you don't speak (55-60% of what humans say is body language) What was funny then, isn't funny anymore (Jokes i laughed at or made, maybe aren't funny in retrospect) I can hear it in your voice, there's always a catch (31-38% of what people say is tone) We're going nowhere, and we're going there fast (This relationship is going nowhere) Anything to watch while we are waiting for this Apocalypse. (This line's one of my favorites: I'm bored and i know the end is coming) What more is there to do? (I've done all i can) It's nice to be important, but so close to being despised (Quotable phraze: Anyone who is considered important,is also open to critism) It's more important to be nice, I guess, than being wise (People accept people who are nice over those who are wiser then they) skip to chorus Our time is over (The relationship is done) Don't you know that if a time-warp was open (Even if the end of the world was actually here) I'd stay right in my place (I would not be moved or shaken; I'd keep my composure) That war is over (The internal war, emotion vs logic, is over) |
