I agree with Texticular. Except for the part about the train, as you don't hear a crash. I think the train may symbolize something else. Maybe transporting his soul? Perhaps a metaphor for him moving on from all the sadness represented in the rest of the album.

To me, the "smiling Jesus" part isn't much about religion. The scenario I see is:
He's going through bad times (see other peoples' descriptions for more on that, lol) and one person is there for him. But they don't really help. They smile and tell him everything will be okay, and see themselves as Jesus Christ for being nice when everyone else hates him... but he needs more than that. This person ISN'T Jesus, they're cross ISN'T a cross. So get off it (stop smiling at me) and please just HELP me. That's what he really wants. Being smiled at isn't enough. |

Because of "prescription" the ADD idea is likely, but my interpretation is:
Prescription means drugs obviously. With drugs, someone is submitting to being perfect. I picture this as someone submitting to taking drugs, because then he will be perfect. All the time, people tell me I should do drugs, and they think I'm dumb for not wanting to... but otherwise they like me. It's like the lyrics, the "prescription" would make me "perfect". |
