| It's my own humble opinion that this song is about a couple choosing to have as secret abortion rather than go through what would ultimately be a "shotgun wedding" due to their families collective religious beliefs. Their trip to a place without parental consent requirements for abortion (California) is detailed in verse one; the imagined life of the couple if the child was born is detailed in the second verse. The bridge consists of our protagonist's ruminations, doubts, and ultimately assuaged guilt over the action. Any takers on my wild idea? | |
