I think this is about a woman who loves the man she is with but she's coming to the realization that she's not in love with him, yet she knows she should be because of how wonderful she thinks he is. "And I don't know if I could stand, another hand upon you, All I know is that I should" ugh...what hard words to say! You know you should be in love with them, but the physical chemistry is not there. It's the worst place to be in...deciding whether you stay with this wonderful person you love yet have no passionate feelings for, or move on, as much as it hurts you and them, knowing that there is someone out there who will love them better than you. Great song... |

Ugh...this song is heart wrenching...I'm in a relationship with a guy that I have no romantic chemistry with, and there's this other guy from my past that I recently caught up with (not phsically) who has given me some inclination that he wants me to break things off with my bf and move to where he is. I know there is so much passion there, but it's risking so much to leave where I am...I just want him to understand the decisions I'm facing, but that I truly do want to be with him so much it "stops my heart." |

I love this song...it applies to where I'm at right now. To me it's about a girl who has this "picture perfect" life with one guy (and I think the lyrics are posted incorrectly; I think from what I hear and what I see on other sites it should be "I've a prince who is waiting in a kingdom downtown) but she's met up with this other guy in Brooklyn, or basically someone who is totally different and new from the guy she is with: he's risky, he's passionate and he makes her feel alive. She thinks she can act like nothing happened with him, like things can go back to normal with the guy she's with, but she realizes that this other guy has a hold of her, and what a fool she is to think she can live in both worlds. She has to decide what she wants. She knows she should go back to her life with her boyfriend, it seems like it should be so easy - it's what makes sense; but she's struggling to do so because of what she feels for the other guy. Just my two cents. :) |
