I'd agree with you for the most part, except for being America-centric. It's not just Americans that have fallen victim, it's most people in most first world countries. Simply because of poverty etc., most third world countries don't quite have the same problem with corporations.

I agree with naysp8, but I also think they have made a point without trying to, perhaps because they weren't trying to. Something about how this is the state of the world. Nothing about needing to fix it or anything, just that it *is* at the moment. christeal, PhilipWithOneL, and ValhallaXVIII also make good points and interpretations =)

I think she asked him to work on their relationship. Like, he's the one who initiated the relationship ("I'm the one who put it there in the first place"), and just wants to be in love with her ("I'm trying to work it to a soft spot and lie there a while"). But "south of her shoulder, and west of her spine" is definitely her heart. "Well I've a vague idea, but it was under the pale moon light" makes me think that he can't remember exactly how they fell in love in the first place.
