whether you would consider this song punk or not is your opinion but it sounds punk you say others dont know what punk is maybe your the one who doesnt really know what it is because it is easy to see that they think it is punk because it seems to be about the person being who they are and that is punk. just because you say someone else doesnt know something doesnt mean your right or theyre wrong adn how does the difference betwwen the sex pistols and the ramones work here they are both punk bands so say someone doesnt know true punk from them is like saying they dont know water from H2O. as to wether i see it as punk or not i still dont know but i see why others might think it is or isnt. |

Gregory please note the lyrics "Well I hope Neil Young will remember a southern man don't need him around anyhow" from sweet home Alabama remember that when you speak about Neil being a big influence. but they may have been anti-handgun specifically because they are easily concealed and pulled when drunk. and as for being considered southern rock because they're from the south no one said that. we say they are southern rock because of the type of music they wrote and sang which was southern rock next time you want to post a post about the type of band they are or their beliefs or the things people are saying about a song consider what you're saying and i have never heard about them saying the flag backdrop was more promotional so that sounds like b.s. to me especially since that doesn't seem like something they would do for promotion and finally they were not totally reviled by the good ole boys of their time as you said the good ole boys were definitely part of their fan-base some of the people who were doing drugs might have reviled them but not all of them did and these people did not represent all or even a majority of the south and at the time there were plenty of northerners on drugs. after saying all of this I do agree that the new band is nowhere near as good as the original there really is no compare. |
