Wasn't Marigold recorded the day before You Know You're Right?
I read somewhere (I think Heavier Than Heaven..or maybe the Greatest Hits booklet, not sure) that in 94' Nirvana reserved 3 days studio time to cut a new record but Kurt didn't show up for the first 2 days so Dave and Krist just recorded a couple of songs Dave wrote. Including Marigold and a number of songs witch would appear on the first Foo Fighters album...Then on the 3rd day (Nirvana's last studio sesh ever)Kurt showed up and they recorded You Know You'r Right.

This is a very beautiful (break-up) song :)
I too like many of you have just recently been a serious relationship that fell apart, and even though this is a very powerful rock song the lyrics are very beautiful and make up a great story of how a man stopped caring about his girlfriends wants and needs until she walked out on him for someone else, leaving him all alone to his own demons. This is simply an amazing song ♥ |

This is a beautiful song. Billie Joe really out did himself. iF Billie Joe ever put out a solo record I bet the majority of the songs on it would most likely be love ballads, break up song, heart warmers. He's written over 40 songs all on the piano. Don't get me wrong i love it if they put out another punk rock album like Dookie or Insomniac but I think the next step for Green Day is ballads. they've been toying around the idea for 13 years but I personally think it's time for Green Day to show there softer side.
But that's just my opinion |

when you really think about it Dave Grohl is a much
better song writer than Kurt Cobain. Dave's had more
hits, better lyricist and a better singer. Kurt would
have never written a song this well constructed. Nirvana
was about hating your self and wanting to die. I personally
don't know anybody that was happy while listening to a Nirvana
song. Foo Fighters got past grunge and played songs that are true
