These days go by like trucks and trains (boring repetetive lifestyle, or perhaps life is just going by too fast and being wasted)) Some hit so hard you barely feel a thing (that lack of feeling yuget when you are really depressed) Lights out right now back then and forevermore (lights out could mean death, lights could mean happiness-he can't remember last time he was happy and feels as though he'll never be happy again, or the line could mean the end of yet another boring day ending the same as as far as he can remember) Lights out left now these robots marching (robot suggests he is just like a machine carrying the same constant monotonous daily routine) To the nearest liquor store (drink obviously - probably to cope with the depression caused by this life) There's something green that's leaving town (green=good? something/someone in his life has gone) Always thought it was blue Always knew I was wrong (to me these two lines seem to say: "you don't appreciate what you have ntil its gone", but deep dwn inside he knew he/she/it was good/special) Where it goes hell knows maybe somewhere better than here (where it goes - the someone that left his life-no idea what's become of her: lost contact) And what they say of the grass on the other sides true (the grass is always greener on the other side, it seems as though everyone else has a better life) Too much time looking up is turning everything blue (spend so much time hoping and searching for something better, no longer appreciates what he has) Including me - including you Including you These times count down like boats and planes (same idea as first line) Some wash away in undertow (some dull and normal days) Some plummet down in flames (sometimes just can't cope with routine and breaks down, depression) Lights out right now back then and forevermore With sirens on this ambulance is racing to the west coast shore (ambulance - even though he has moved to the west coast things are still just as tragic) There's something blue that's leaving town We always talked about black we're considering brown Where it goes hell knows Maybe somewhere better than here And what they say of the grass on the other sides true Too much time looking up's turning everything blue Including me, including the ocean, including you Feel the ocean blue Engulfing you I view the deep blue sea It's turning red right in front of me (posible suicide reference, btut i think it just means watching the sunset after yet another boring day) There's something gray that's leaving town And it's way beyond me How it gets off the ground (aeroplane not sure of the significance of this..) sink like a stone. but it sounds to me like an attempt to write a clever line in, but failing and turning out as something that sounds as if it has just been put in for the sake of it. that's just my opinion though, don't get me wrong i've got nothing against this guy, it's just the lyrics sounds, well...sort of pretentious, if thats the right word. |

| when david draiman was younger he was in a relationship with this girl, but when he found out she was a heroin addict he split up with her because he was afraid his dad wouldnt approve of it. then the girl killed herself by an overdose at a party crying about how she just wanted him to be there with her. He grew up in a religious family i believe, and you cant go to heaven if you committed suicide(hence inside the fire, meaning hell) This song is about his nightmares in which the devil was tempting him to take his own life and join her in hell forever. | |

taken from an interveiw with matt skiba for total guitar magazine: "This song starts off with our friend Douglas P. (UK folk singer/Death In June) reading Dante's Divine Comedy, so it's kinda dark and spooky in the beginning. But I Found Away is actually about Transcendental Meditiation, which is something I've been practising for a few years now. I've learned alot from it about myself and about my surroundings, and it's taught me to embrace both like and death. Death is just a step in the life cycle and not something to be feared. I can honestly say that i live without fear and anxiety - completely. We all have have our inner turmoil and things that are rather unpleasant, but it amkes those things so much easier to deal with. I found Away - it's 'away', one word - means that I found 'away' from fear and 'away' from sorrow and anxiety. All these people operate on that level and it's totally unnecessary. I Found Away is really positive" in my opinion this is the best song on agony and irony. by far. personally i found this album disappointing - not that its not good, but it is nowhere near maybe i'll catch fire & from here to infirmary. |

| this song has helped me through bad times and helped make me a better person. i often get depressed over the smallest things, but this song puts it into perspective and makes you realise that there are always people worse off than you, and that life isn't perfect. there will always be difficult and depressing times in your life. it is not what happens to you that really matters, and feeling sorry for yourself and complaining won't make it better, its how you cope with it and carry on that makes you who you are. | |
