| I love that this song has an almost calypso-ish undertone. It just makes it so dancey :] | |
| Mirah – The Sun Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This is probably my favorite Mirah song. "Pull a feather from nest. Fasten it to your chest. Shoot yourself up to me. Cut through the gravity. You don't have to be scared. You hold yourself down there. You would like it here I know. You were meant to let it go." It's sounds so encouraging, I always listen to it when I feel like a need a little boost. And then the part that starts, "Cause I am the sun..." all the way to the end is so freaking beautiful. Her voice, the lyrics, the guy ahhhing in the background, I just love this song so much. |

| Laura Veirs – Cast A Hook In Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |

So this is definitely my favorite Laura Veirs song to date. Personally, every time I listen to this song, I get an immense feeling of hope. I do agree with everything else said, and I especially like what just1chance said about this song being open-ended. I do think it's about life and death and love and loss and maybe even hope. "Like a falling leaf who keeps her green, I'm turning bright in the sea" To me that is so hopeful, like even though death is imminent for that leaf, the fact that it is still green means that it's still living regardless of what is to come. Anyway, just some thoughts. I honestly do love this song with all my heart. |

I basically think that this song is about finding beauty in unlikely places. "Flower like you in a desert this cruel my my you're a rare rare find" It's really just one of her more light-hearted songs. Makes me feel pleasant. I adore Laura and her amazing use of imagery. |
