Washington – Sunday Best Lyrics 15 years ago
i'm pretty sure this is about her relationship with michael tomlinson, the lead singer of yves klein blue.
i think this song is about their breakup - they reunite in 'i believe you, liar', the last song from the album of the same name.
it's definitely my favourite song from the album, and i love the clip, too. i can't help dancing to it whenever it comes on.

Yves Klein Blue – Getting Wise Lyrics 16 years ago
yeah, it's weird - the website says 'finding our feet' but the cd booklet says 'trying to find our feet' and that's what they sing. I just sing it loudly.

Yves Klein Blue – Soldier Lyrics 16 years ago
haha, yeah, I love this song too.
About taking risks and trying new things and never playing it safe, and yet feeling constrained at the same time.

The Drums – Let's Go Surfing Lyrics 16 years ago
This song always makes me think of the Beach Boys' surfing songs.
It sooo should have gotten higher in the triple j Hottest 100!

Regina Spektor – The Calculation Lyrics 16 years ago

To me it sounds like two people who still have that child-like sense of wonder (like: let's try that and see what that does) and they're looking at the 'strangers in the pages' thinking "well, they're in love. Is it that easy for us?" so they each pull out their hearts and try to get a spark, and they do, and that's the fire that's burning them up, because they found that love was so much bigger than what they thought. The language seems a bit, not simplistic, but simple, and I get that child-like feeling from 'computer out of macaroni pieces'.
But no one has the same interpretation as me at all, so perhaps I'm hearing things... :)

Regina Spektor – Marry Ann Lyrics 16 years ago
Isn't this about Mary Anne Cotton, the English killer from the 1800s, who murdered her husbands and children with arsenic in their food?

Regina Spektor – Sailor Song Lyrics 16 years ago
yeah, it is 'atop this giant puddle' according to the CD booklet lyrics. :)

Karnivool – New Day Lyrics 16 years ago
mmm, yeah. I agree too.

I especially love the line, 'hey, let's get lost in the crowd,' because it's kind of like, 'hey, let's be anonymous, even if it's just for a little while.'

This is one of my favourites from the album, and the one that gets stuck in my head the most.

Why did they follow me home...?

The John Steel Singers – Smashing the Speed of Sound on an Empty Lake in Utah Lyrics 16 years ago
Is this song actually about smashing the speed of sound on an empty lake in Utah? I thought it was, especially with the line, 'running around / with the grease on my knee,' but now that I've read the lyrics, I'm not too sure.

Perhaps it is, and whoever's doing the smashing has been told it's a mistake and now they're wondering if they should go ahead and make the mistake anyway.

I 'm pretty sure she mentions Bear Spektor in the list of people she thanks on the album.
