Silvio Rodríguez – Ojalá Lyrics 14 years ago
Silvio has stated this song is to an ex-girlfriend many times, but to me, it's quite obvious this song is directed to the US in all senses. I'll try to ive you the most accurate translation I could give, as the verb "Ojalá" doesn't have an exact translation.

Ojalá

I wish leaves don't touch your body when they fall
so you can't turn them into crystal.
I wish the rainfall stops being a "miracle" that runs down your body.
I wish the moon can come out without you.
I wish the earth wouldn't kiss your steps.
I wish you'd run out of your permanent gaze, your precise opinion, your perfect smile
I wish something would happen that erases you all of the sudden.

A blinding light, a shot of a blizzard...
At least I wish death would take me away
So I don't see you so often, so I don't see you always
In every second, in every vision.
I wish I could not even touch in songs.

I wish the dawn doesn't scream shouts that fall on my back.
I wish that your name gets forgotten by that voice.
I wish the walls don't hold the noise of your tired walking.
I wish the desire leaves behind your steps.
To your old government of defuncts and flowers. (this is the most revealing line)
I wish you'd run out of your permanent gaze, your precise opinion, your perfect smile.
I wish something would happen that erases you all of the sudden.

A blinding light, a shot of a blizzard
At least I wish death would take me away
So I don't see you so often, so I don't see you always
In every second, in every vision.
I wish I could not even touch in songs,

I wish something would happen that erases you all of the sudden.
A blinding light, a shot of a blizzard
At least I wish death would take me away
So I don't see you so often, so I don't see you always
In every second, in every vision.
I wish I could not even touch in songs.
