To me, this song has a literal meaning and figurative meaning. The figurative meaning I think, Is about How it's so easy to give up sometimes, but he knows how you feel and wants you to keep holding on, and not get pulled into the "in crowd", but do what's right in your heart. Follow your faith. It also says that he'll be by your side until the end, and never leave you on your own. Maybe from God, to you. As in no matter what God will be by your side, and he wants you to hold on. He's reaching out his hand to you waiting for you to take hold of it. And I the literal meaning: I recently had a friend drown, and the story is sort of like this. No need to explain. |
