c0intelpr0 , wtf? Traditional gender roles ironized. The guy will throw a punch at times, but the girl will forgive him and they'll make up. The song's full of ironic notes. |

This song is pretty straight forward, and I agree with nospam. You can see that illustrated in the video at the very end when her path crosses with someone and they glance at eachother. "Too many lights on, but nowhere near here". Too many distractions around making her invisible. She could have been everything, but he didn't notice. "It's about you and the sun A morning run The story of my maker What I have and what I ache for" Poetically sums up what each person keeps breathing for, what's beautiful. Love, sun as the source of life, creation myths we somehow need, endless desires. And she doesn't have "him", the most important thing. "I've got a golden ear I cut and I spear What else is there?" This reminds me of basic survival. Sharp senses and sharp knives. She pays close attention to her surroundings, and sometimes she destroys. It's the death drive. But she wants more, like the things mentioned in the previous paragraph. "I was given just one wish" You know how it goes when all you've ever really wanted is one person. Nothing else compares, and this is a beautiful way of putting it, like it's an external force. This is one of the most beautiful songs and hands down my favorite video. It's a masterpiece. It's in touch with human life in its most primitive form while still making cultural sense. And I love those fuzzy apples, drifting houses, twilight forests, road lines and veins. |
