I think this one is dedicated to matt barlow (former lead singer of iced earth) when I saw them on wacken and they said goodbye to each other it wasn't hard to feel that this choise of path was hard on both parts because they we're going to miss each other and you can really feel this in this song. -In your eyes I see you're desperate and in hunger Reclaim your future, your path's uncertain. This is about matt barlow and his family -See this child is raised in hate and in anger His eyes wide open, his rage so focused. I would think this means his son/daughter hates him for being away from them because he is missed by the family -This single mother she is strained and she suffers She slaves away, her life in turmoil. His wife is left to do all the duties alone which is hard. This one is pretty obvious, he made his choise to stay with his family because he has a responsobility -Torn asunder, our destiny is in sight This is the anthem to celebrate your life torn asunder, he left the band, our destiny in sight, what is the bands future now? this is the anthem, but this gives the opportunity, to celebrate your life, to dedicate this song to you as a thank you gift for the 15 years with us. When I heard the chorus my first thought was that this was a song dedicated to matt barlow. I am going to see them live this saturday, I will update this post if he says something about barlow before or after this song. |

Alemay3 speaks what the message is with this song, on wikipedia you can read that mustaine said that it's about loved ones dying, and what they would say if they had 3 seconds to live, that's the french part "to all the world, to all my friends, I love you all, but I have to leave" so it's no wonder he got the inspiration from that dream |

I think the song is about not letting anyone take you down emotionally, always keep fighting, watch out who you trust(don't talk to strangers) where you get seduced to (don't smell the flowers) that you should alwyas keep moving because maybe something good happens to you and your life (don't hide in doorways) don't go to heaven could mean that you should not rush into anything looking nice because it might just be something awful then I think what he sings before the guitar solo is about an obsession then he says don't let people hurt you because they have no fucking right to (don't let them inside your mind, protect your soul) that's how I see the song and switch to it in tough times :) (like now) thought I'd share, plus it's fucking awesome to sing :D |
