This is my favorite song off of Streets of Gold. I think the meaning's pretty obvious; a girl likes a guy that's older, and her innocence starts to fade as they get closer, because, being older, he's into things she hasn't yet been exposed to. He doesn't want to hurt her, so he's letting her go before she becomes a different person. I had this exact situation happen to me a while ago, so I'm guessing that's why I love this song so much. Plus, it's a song that actually has some meaning, which is different for a band like 3oh!3 |

my favorite song; i can't decide on what i think it actually means or is about. but when i listen to it, i get a wizard of oz feeling. the music has that whole surreal sound. i'd be a sleepyhead too if i just spent a day in oz. the first verse is like dorothy experiencing the tornado and trying to understand where she is and what was going on once she got there. and in the second verse, it's like the ending where dorothy tries to explain what just happened to her family but they don't know what to say because they think she's insane. the lion reference. the sleepyhead reference (the red flowers that make her sleepy) and obviously the system parts sound like the munchkins. i know that's probably a really shallow interpretation. but that's what i think of when i hear it. |
