| Fair to Midland – April Fools and Eggmen Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| My quick impression is that most are too quick to judge or believe what other people have "concluded." That finding the reality of the situation takes time and determination to do so. Stop and think for yourself independent of what "everyone else" thinks. Challenge them and their piddly little perceptions before you give in to one. | |

I don't know what "Ciperion" means, so I'd rather make reference to this lyric. I often hear people tell another to rely on their gut instinct if they are largely uncertain of the definitive--this is the best I can do for now, I guess. I am not certain why, but upon hearing this song and reading the lyrics through once, I get the vague impression that the song relates with a phenomenon where everybody "rides" on one's accomplishments. And these "riders" do not take time to appreciate the small achievements as much as they do for the larger, more ambitious accomplishments to come. If I were to put a percentage to the portion of lyrics that I think relate to my inference, I'd say a measly 12%; but as far as other possibilities, I'm at a loss so this is the best I can do. Take what you can get. |

I just want to throw my interpretation in here three years later.. This song remains one of my favorites since it was released. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it based on all of the memories that I relate to this song. I don't think I can relate to the literal meaning, though. I've always pictured it being about a he-she relationship in which he sees the "real" she and he doesn't necessarily approve of it. It may be her over-controlling manner, her willingness to void the obligations of a monogamous relationship, or other bad habits of which he does not appreciate. As much as he wants to stay together, and he tries; he can't help but be reminded of the things he does not like about her. |
