Someone else brought this up years ago. There is at least one other version of this "my english teacher wanted to have sex in jr high..." and "raping lesbians" or something like that. Haven't actually heard the version in question in anything other than acapella at this stage but I prefer the released version better because it doesn't come off as homophobic (the lesbian part) and makes Shady more relatable. I love this song. It's caught in my head == |

I only just got into Eminem as I usually listen to rock. Dad bought me Curtain Call on the weekend and we put it on in the car. His face when this came on was priceless. I think Elton John on the bonus track cheered him up. |

It's about religious control. For those who are questioning which religion, it seems to be a form of Christianity probably because it is the most prominant and most controlling religion around (not that I have anything against Christians as a whole). I'm not sure about America but in Australia, Christianity seems to be the basis of law, logic and control. Saying I am a Green Day fans generally scares off people who try to convert me. Maybe this song is why ;) |

| Green Day – Christian's Inferno Lyrics

It should be noted that there appears to be no apostrophe in the title as written on the album. This may have been intentional as it would then imply people who follow Christianity rather than a fire set b a guy called Christian. This would have sparked a reaction if people weren't gaining such a lack of spelling and grammar. Also, I'm pretty sure it is about Christian feeling rejected, being high on medication ("All I want to know is a god damn thing/Not what's in the medicine"-Static Age and "I've got a really bad disease"-Restless Heart Syndrome). This appears to have lead him to lighting fires as a form of entertainment/distraction. |

Not so sure if Whatsername ends up with Tunny but the rest makes perfect sense. Not sure why they completely changed the meaning of Nobody Likes You and RNRGF in the musical. |

To whoever mentioned Tre yelling at the end (i think it's Tre), if it is him this may imply that Tunny or whoever was saying it was left behind. He appears to be saying something along the lines of "No! Fuck off, just go. I don't care. I don't, I don't." This is hard to tell as the acapella which helped me identify this was censored so I'm guessing based on that and the original. |

Call me crazy but i spent a year trying to figure out where i heard the tune of this chorus before.
Old King Cole was a merry old soul
And a merry old soul was he
He called for his pipe and he called for his bowl
and he called for his fiddelers 3
I may have gotten those words wrong, but u get the idea. I really love that tune no matter what words are put there. |

And even if Mary Jane was a person, he knew her before he left. She was left in Jingletown, he met Whatsername after this. |

I think alot of people are going in the wrong direction with this and i am unbsure if anybody has already pointed this out but Saint Jimmy isn't a real person. It says in Letterbomb that he is "a figment of your father's rage and your mother's love". He is the reason Whatsername left JOS (who according to the musical is named Johnny). |

Is it possible that this relationship is the same one as in Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)? It seems Good Riddance could have been the end of the same relationship. Both involve a very loving but tired relationship that was once amazing and has faded to nothing. If so, "I love you" obviously wasn't enough. |

A great song, discussing the need for support. This song relates to the only part of Catcher in the Rye which i found interesting. An internal struggle of wanting help but pushing it away "fogs his world". He is trying not to push people away like Holden did. |

I have always viewed it from a different perspective. I know it's about moving out of home and going to a place outsiders call ugly but seeing it as beautful. But it could also be a conciet (very big metaphor) about a girl.(Wow, that's a shock.) He sees her as beautiful despite being misunderstood. I am unaware if this song was written with this interperatation in mind. |

Billie sang this in Sydney without other band members. He sang the 3rd verse twice rather than second then third. Not sure if this was done on purpose or if he became emotional and confused. From what I can tell, this song still hurts him. |

From what I can tell, Whatsername is trying to tell JOS that he is too melodramatic in thinking he is two people and refering to himself as the "Jesus of Suburbia". As stated before, there is a sense of Dookie in this song. This makes perfect sense in that it has many textual connections to Basket Case. The mind playing tricks on him, her putting up with his issues and obviously being stoned. |
