best song on battle studies. hand down. i think this song is about loving someone that doesnt feel the same. "young and full of running" - i think hes talking about when you have those butterflies that feeling that you have that makes you feel like a little kid, excited and gitty. "tell me where thats taking me" -but the person he loves doesnt love him back so hes wondering what that means. "just a great figure 8 or a tiny infinity" - hes wondering if its gonna stay like that if hes gonna love someone that doesnt love him. "love is really nothing but a dream that keeps waking me" - i think hes saying how when your in heartache how its all you can think about it comsumes you and you cant even sleep because your minds never at rest. "for all of my trying you still end up dying how can it be" - hes tryin so hard to get this person to feel the same but all that happens is he pushes her away more. "dont say a word just come over and lie here with me cause im just about to set fire to everything i see" - hes telling her you dont have to say anything you dont want to just stay with him because thats all that matters to him he could care less about anything else. "i want you so bad ill go back on the things i believe there i just said it im scared youll forget about me" - he doesnt care what it takes he wants her and he wants to tell her but hes scared itll only backfire but he cant help it so he just says how scared he is of losing her " so young and full of running all the way to the edge of desire" - he still feels those butterflies but now theve gotten worse to the point where he can barely stand it "steady my breathing silently screaming i have to have you now" - hes trying to calm down get himself under control but all he can think of is getting this girl "wired but im tired think ill sleep in my clothes on the floor" - hes trying to come up with ideas and ways of getting this girl but hes annoyed hes tired of having to try so hard. so he tries stuff that doesnt make any sense to him stuff that he would never normally do "maybe this matress will spin on its axis and find me in yours" - hes tried everything and nothing works so he finally has to leave it up to hope that somehow even if by magic she falls for him of course i could be wrong but this is what i got from it because of personal experience. |

this is my take on my personal favorite J.M. song. - this song is about temptation and fantasies. "gravity is working against me" - his temptations are working against his relationship "gravity wants to bring me down" - those temptations are trying to bring down his relationship " ill never know what makes this man with all the love his heart can stand dream of ways to throw it all away" - he doesnt know why hes having these temptations or fantasies whith such a good girl that he loves with all his heart " twice as much aint twice as good and cant sustain like one half could" - this is where im still pondering but i believe its his trying to convice himself that his temptations arent as good as he thinks theyll be and cant fufill him like his other half "its wanting more thats gonna send me to my knees" - he knows that if he does it its only gonna turn out bad " twice as much aint twice as good and cant sustain like one half could its wanting more thats gonna send me to my knees" - he has to constantly convince himself that its not what he really wants "gravity stay the hell away from me" - he starts to control his urges and begins to shut those thoughts out of his head "gravity has taken better men than me how can that be" - he cant understand how if he can stay true how other people cant "just keep me where the light is" keep him strong, keep me where he knows he wants to really be, keep him in real love. and thats how i decipher this song!! |
