this song is not a childish song it is a metaphor for smoking pot. submarine referring to a joint and the sea of green as pot. the man i think could be bob dylan who was the person that first smoked pot with them and it was the entire band who was with them. notice the beginning of the submarine sounds it sounds like some one taking a toke. if u add all these facts together u get a song about pot AND THEREFOR THIS SONG IS GREATNESS |

i think this song is a metaphor for all the drugs tom tried and the end part about being sick of being a dealer sick of the calls and paranoia from the cops. the part about coffee "her ugly side was showen" i think he means the crash u get from coffee and how agitated u can get. this is all just a well educated guess though |
