| Otep – God Is A Gun Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Has no one listened to the begining of Unveiled? It's a wiccan chant "Isis,Ishtar,Hecate,Kali" Emilie (The singer) is obviously a wiccan/witch, this song expresses all the rage that she as a witch as well as most of the wiccan population feels towards the hypocritical monotheists (No offence, I've got friends who are christian and stuff, don't get all butt hurt, I don't have time for it) i.e. "Woman is a devil" For a long time (1400's-1700's to be exact) the catholic church murdered millions of inocent witches and christian women alike, believing that any strong, nature loving, smart, woman as well as gypsies, psychics, herb gatherers, healers, and midwives, were in fact, the devil incarnate. This song is filled with such references, witch is why and she referes to herself as a "Sinner" or "Blasphemer" and says that we will "Burn in the pit" she's being sarcastic since most witches don't even believe in the devil or hell, but that is what the patriarchs will think will happen to us. Also "Your God is a fraud" is a reference to ... well that's pretty self eplanitory, and "The Lord is my weapon, I see Him shoot pawns" is a reference to how the christian God seems to have an inexplicable urge to slaughter his followers, or "shoot pawns" Get it? Sorry if I offended you, I really don't have any beef with Christians as long as they don't push it on me, I don't mean to insult your beliefs, just to explain the song, I'm cool with all religions, but you know, I still am a little ticked about the Burning Times, who wouldn't be? But other than that, I'm actually cool. Hope this helped. Blessed Be! | |
