| Linkin Park – Burn It Down Lyrics

Anyone think this has to do with America's station in the Middle East? We're trying to build it up but eventually we are going to run out of resources (we're already so in debt as a nation it's incredible). The burning down of what we created seems rather likely doesn't it? |

| Alexander – Truth Lyrics

I just discovered this song and I love the lyrics. To me, Alexander is talking about the "shadow" in each of us, as Carl Jung writes of. That is that dark part of ourselves that we refuse to accept. "The truth is I never shook my shadow." He is admitting that he has a shadow, and he hasn't faced it yet. It tries to get him to do battle, which is basically cognitive dissonance, or fighting against the knowledge of its existence in order to maintain homeostasis or feel calm and balanced.
In the next verse he's "grown up some"--he's faced his shadow, and done battle with it, and found the power that comes from facing the truth. I love the line "Your darkness is shining".
Finally he speaks of branching out, of embracing the shadow in others. "Every little lie in this world comes from dividing". Hating the shadow in others results in division. "All my enemies turning into my teachers." He is learning to accept others, and love them, no matter what their faults may be. He is learning true unity and true love. |

| The Scene Aesthetic – Alvin Maker's Greensong Lyrics

I see that a couple other people have recognized the title's reference as being from The Tales of Alvin Maker by Orson Scott Card. I have read those books, but it was awhile ago. I am trying to understand why they named the song that--what it has to do with the books. Is it something to do with Alvin and Peggy's relationship? |

I wonder if this song is a response to her dad dying, or going away somehow. Either way it seems like she misses him, and is recalling all the good memories with him. |

| Paramore – Pressure Lyrics

This song has a personal meaning for me. To me it's about the pressure of school, especially when I procrastinate, and I feel anxiety about getting it done and feeling like I just want to cast it away and say "I'm better off without you, homework." Especially as it gets closer to the end of the semester, and I'm getting tired and "losing hope" and beginning to "feel empty". I know, kind of depressing, and maybe more mundane than a relationship interpretation, but that's how this song strikes me. |
