Lemon Demon – This Hyper World Lyrics 16 years ago
Okay, since nobody else has put this one forward a couple of friends and I have a theory about this song. We think it might very well be about having a best friend with an amphetamine addiction.

"You got nothing up your sleeve
you got plenty on your mind"

This line reminds me of the stereotypical restlessness and disposession of those who have been on amphetamine for a lengthy period of time.

"and your mouth is getting dry
because you're yawning all the time
and the days are getting longer
but your patience ticks away
and the wind could knock you over
if the walls weren't in the way"

This bit is the crutch of the arguement. All of these represent characteristics of amphetamine users. The drying of the mouth, the exhaustion without the ability to sleep, the illusionary extension of time and the irritability brought on by lack of sleep as well as the physical frailty again brought on by malnourishment and exhaustion.

"Oh, run the rooftop marathon
until your sense of up and down is gone
Discover ten brand new ways
to make tomorrow's weather like today's"

Again, the imagery here; the dizziness and the repetition (Again seen in the following bridge "Stuck inside a pattern/Stuck inside a loop", which is repeated for emphasis), all could seem to portain to amphetamine use.

"I only understand myself
Just me and nobody else
I only understand myself
Just me and nobody else"

This could either be the inability of the narrator to empathise or alternatively the inability of the subject of the song to empathise with others (if the theory holds, of course)
