fully agree. the cold nostalgia line kinda made it for me, especially after all the "I would" lines. and after i'd got that meaning, i found out that Adam did actually write this song about his dead girlfriend so i guess we were right lol. i love this song, especially the song change for the last verse. |

i think its a warning for someone (girl i think) to stay away from him because the same blood that runs in her veins, is the blood that he spilt. loosely, i mean i dont think the two people are related or anything. and she's trying to get him to be himself, to show her who he really is, because she thinks she can help him, cure him, but he's saying no some things can't be treated, so don't make me show you that side of me. but i think in the end he gives in and shows her and he sees the way he THINKS she sees him now. Straight from your eyes its barely me beautifully so disfigured. and then i THINK right at the end its HER that whispers is it really that hard for you to (and i think its) live, coz she's only just realized how hard it is for him. yeah that's what i think anyway |

he's not talking about raping her. this whole song in my opinion is more of a metaphor. he thought the way he treated her which wasn't ABUSE it was kind of like a love hate relationship, wasn't affecting her as much as it was, and that her reactions were displayed jokingly: Watch you bite into the bottle Watch me kick out the chair Let you chew up the glass And laugh as you just hung there I had thought of rose petals Most were perfectly pure Then I thought of your petals And the abuse they've been through He's talking about how he thought he was dealing with somebody undamaged, "pure", and not someone who'd already been through so much abuse and was affected so much by it. |

yeah i agree with pennylane. he just means he's lucky that the person he's in love with is not only his girlfriend, but his best friend as well. He thinks of her as his best friend now, but it doesn't necessarily mean they were best friends before he fell in love with her. |
