I think this song is written to Justin's mother maybe before he became famous and she worked to make ends meet. This day she came in crying after loosing her job. So he just tells her to put her coat on and just go for a ride to take her mind off of it?
The song is non sexual in the wording of the song. So, I take it that he dedicated this song to his mum who he is very close too and supported him in his early years. |

This song is about a guy who has depression but seems to be blaming his other half in the first part of the song where he says:" Is it a blast for you" implying she is the one who is to blame for the state he is in. But by the end of the song he turns it on himself by saying: "Its not a blast for me." Very subtle changes to the words confirm his own realisation that most people blame depression on others until they realise it themselves then they are more able to look for help in treating it. His description of "putting cellophane around my mouth to stop the anger seeping out" is a great description for how you feel when you are depressed. You blame everyone else except yourself. Robbie has had bouts of deprssion so his first hand account of it is spot on in my view. |

I think this song says in the first part that Jesus died and sacrificed his life on the cross to save our souls but in this modern age we don't see Jesus' sacrifice as important. Instead we concentrate on our outward looks, getting cosmetic surgery to become perfect, ignoring and neglecting our inner soul which Jesus died for in the first place. That's why he the says: "Jesus didn't die for you." as Jesus could not have imagined we would look so flippantly on his sacrifice to save our souls. People nowadays do not think of Jesus, God anymore, their God is beauty, fitness, appearnaces, clothes, materialistic obsessions, not spiritual obsesions. |
