in the great fire u figure out that a house is burning and that its his own because of the theme of american dream about everything failing around him in "i am the arsonist" he bhurns down the house tath his wife and best friend wer staying at coz she cheated on him and this song is about the conection to that because in I am the arsonist he says theyll never convict me but in "the end" he tells the girl everything seeing as he kills himself in the end of this song kinda like a spiritual retribution all and all its probs the best album ive heard all year |

my opinion is that given the way the whole album moved from the great fire where a house is being destroyerd and the boy saves the girl too a 2nmd story of the shipwreck in all the album is about the breakdowns of relationships if you listen to i am the arsonist aswell it talks about him wanting to burn her house down for being with his bestfriend "how could u do this, my best friend, with my bride" and i think in this song he admits it to the girl becoz also in a hero dies everyday he states hes gonna die via suicide"when the morning sun comes ill be long gone" and this is kinda a conclusion of him telling the girl that he lvoed her and that he didnt want to save her but in the end did and yet he knew she could never love him |
