"I want you to love me Like you did before you knew me And I never thought there'd be any help for somebody like me A vacancy" He wants her to love him the way they were initially; she didn't know him. She didn't know him, because he isn't anyone (or at least that's how he feels "a vacany" and he's asking for someone to "tell me who I am" because he doesn't know who he he is). She found something about him attractive-even if it was ephemeral and now is gone or the face he put on for everyone to hide his vacancy. He wants her love-even if she isn't seeing him for him. He doesn't think there would be any help or companionship for someone who is empty and has nothing to offer-"a vacancy" |
