I personally believe that it's about trying to escape today's society but not able to do. He wants to got back to an old way of life "and i believe in gentle harmony" "well how i loathe all this obscenity" he more or less despises today's society and is asking rhetorical questions such as "is this the way my life has got to be?,have i a single opportunity?" noting that your life is already chosen for you and hou have no say in it, but that's just my opinion. |

You say "please don't make this harder."No, I won't yet... I think he is just ended a reltionship and it he is talking about feeling towards this. With the first line "I want to be forgotten,and I don't want to be reminded" this kinda says it really. He wants her to forget her and doesn't want to remeber this relationship. However, he sill has feelings for her and the second stanza is probably his feelings a few days after the break up "I wanna be beside her.She wanna be admired." as the first stanza is more his feeling just after the break up. He feels isolated now and feels as though there is no one to console him "But no one comes in and yes, you're alone...You don't miss me, I know.". I think the fourth stanza "I come together in the middle of the night.Oh that's an ending that I can't write, 'cause,I've got you to let me down." he is saying how he can't expres his true feelings in front of others and therefore comes together at night so that no one sees him."You say "please don't make this harder."No, I won't yet..." This is the girl speaking to him saying she fels bad but doesn't want him to make her feel guilty. In general, its about breang up and dealing with it aferwards. |

For some reason I can relate so well to this song. To me the first stanza is about a girl who left a big impression on him and is not sure where to take it "I tell you something isn't right,The way i'm feeling kept me up all night" as he thinks he can do better but prefers not to "And all the good ones got away,All the good ones gone to waste". He decides to induce himself in drugs "And I take another hit" and he is getting taken over by this feeling, making him lose his mind "All the TV's hypnotised All the loonies on the rise"? The chorus is basically about letting fate decide for him "Tonight Ladies and Gentlemen,I roll the dice"and of all of this is a big strain on him "It's been so hard working for no one".Now he has to make the decision " Wakey wakey rise and shine,Put down your souvenirs I think it's time" after much time delberating "We've been dead behind the eyes"and he is ressuring himself that if it doesn't go to plan he can try again on perhaps someone else "No matter what you do, you know,The world it keeps on turning". |
