| Dave Matthews – So Damn Lucky Lyrics | 16 years ago |

my favorite part: Now I'm thinking that you did all you could When you said my love Take it slowly Ok, is what I said it makes me think of when you leave the house and mom gives all this seemingly stupid advice like "drive slow, be careful, watch out" and you don't take it seriously, until it's too late. this song could be about a loved one, a parent, or anyone that cares about you. how lucky to have gone at separate times, but what if you were traveling together? would you still have put yourself at the risk? this whole album is about "what if"s and it seems like he's taking a retrospective look at his life. |

| Dave Matthews Band – Alligator Pie (Cockadile) Lyrics | 16 years ago |

this song IS about Katrina, the government, etc. . . . however, the whole part about "daddy when you gonna put me in a song" probably made it into this song because of the way they wrote the album. collectively, the band wrote music for about 40 songs, then kept cutting them down until they had the album. then dave put words to the songs and he probably needed something extra for Alligator Pie, so he threw Stella in there, asking "Daddy, when you gonna put me in a song?" That bit about her actually asking the question seems viable, because the word "grace" does appear in many of his songs, whether it's talking about his daughter Grace, or grace in general. I could see where Stella is coming from on that point, feeling a bit left out :( |
