Alright so I'm probably way off base, but this is how I interpreted the lyrics. I think it's about a Man and a Woman in a relationship, and the woman get's pregnant. So I"ll just go through lyrics and explain how I came to this conclusion, lol. Woman's POV: Most likely after she's told him about the baby, and he freaks. She's saying he needs to step up and change his ways. "You left me hanging from a thread we once swung from together I lick my wounds but I can never see them getting better Somethings gotta change Things cannot stay the same" Mans POV: Probably as he's leaving her because he can't deal with it. He knows she's mad about how he's been during the relationship but he feels like he can't change into what she wants him to be. "Her hair was pressed against her face, her eyes were red with anger Enraged by things unsaid and empty beds and bad behavior Somethings gotta change It must be rearranged, oh" Chorus: {Man talking to Woman} "I'm sorry, I did not mean to hurt my little girl It's beyond me, I cannot carry the weight of the heavy world" (He's sorry but he can't deal with it.) The Man's Friends POV: It explains how he's changed whether, he's upset about his not being able to step up. Or that fact that he's got a child out there in the world. They want things to change; for the man to get better. "The room was silent as we all tried so hard to remember The way it feels to be alive The day that he first met her Somethings gotta change Things cannot stay the same" Man's POV: The man still feels for the woman he's left. He's seeing other girls, but they all just seem to remind him of her. "You make me think of someone wonderful, but I cant place her I wake up every morning wishing one more time to face her Somethings gotta change It must be rearranged, oh" Chorus: To the woman again. Man's POV towards the Child: He's thinking about the child, and how he's missing out from being around her. "So much to love So much to learn But I won't be there to teach you, oh I know I can't be close But I try my best to reach you" Chorus: The man tries to explain to the child why he left, and ends up just hoping things worked out alright. ... Well, yeah rereading that it's far fetched, but that's just what clicked in my head when I really started getting into this song. It's like one of my favorites now, lol. Wow, this is wordy (sorry) |
