I never heard the other versions of this song, but to me the song is about someone who was living in a dream or was in a period of happiness that was perfect; but only to them. Then they began to realize just how "not perfect" the dream was and was very upset and regretful of the truth. Whether the dream's falsity came from the person themself or another is left up to the listener. Though to me, it seems a bit of both but they may have built the dream up without realizing they were doing it. |
