| At first when I listened to this song, I thought it was about a broken relationship; How he wanted to be remembered, instead of just another guy. But now that I've really studied the lyrics, I feel as though there's way more to that. It's not just individuality in a relationship- it's individuality in general. My interpretation is that he doesn't want to live his life with society's rules and sayings. He wants to be the different one of the cult. | |

For anyone who doesn't know the meaning of the song, it's a true story about an abortion. The girl didn't kill herself though; The writer just wanted to add something else to make the story more interesting. "now im guilt stricken, sobbin with my head on the floor, stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice now": The "shoe full of rice now" symbolizes a wedding. So if you stop the child being born, you commonly stop a wedding from happening. "my best friend took a weeks vacation to forget her", Actually, it's the same girl. Can you blame them? They were in a band, afterall. |
