Fall Out Boy – I've Got All This Ringing in My Ears and None on My Fingers Lyrics 16 years ago
That is interesting! I love to write, so you don't mind if I give you a brilliant ending point (it may not be all that brilliant, though, depends on what you think of it)?
Well, because he can't bring himself to hurt her, because he loves her and only wants the best for her, he sacrifices himself in order for her to have the life that she needs...?

Fall Out Boy – I've Got All This Ringing in My Ears and None on My Fingers Lyrics 16 years ago
The part, "New York eyes, Chicago thighs," has always intrigued me. And lately, I've been thinking that the person they're singing about has big city dreams, but at the same time they savor the taste of their humble beginnings.

I think this song is saying that the guy is the deathly part of the relationship and thinks he is going to exterminate the girl; because of this, he sacrifices himself in order for her to be happy. Especially when Patrick sings, "The truth hurts worse than anything I could bring myself to do, to you."
"Pushed up the window to kiss you off," was an interesting part as well. I assume that Patrick, Pete, is the one pushing the window up and letting the girl go off. Or maybe it shows as well that they are accepting the end of their relationship, that they just want the best for the other person...

Tal Bachman – She's So High Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song could also mean, aside from the socioeconomic interpretation, that the guy believes the girl is too...not day-dreamy, but rather always searching for something beautiful. And when she settles for him, based on his modesty, it doesn't seem right.
Although the socioeconomical interpretation seems to be more accurate, based on the written lyrics...I got my own interpretation from watching the music video.

I think you're spot on. 30STM's activism in the environment as well as humanity leaves a huge imprint.

Matchbox Twenty – Hand Me Down Lyrics 16 years ago
This song vocalizes how a girl feels about herself and how it is shown to everyone else. She feels worthlessness, so in the hard world, she is worthlessness ("Someday they'll find ya small town world/ On a big town avenue"). As well, because she doesn't feel any uniqueness to herself, she tends to give in to everyones' demands. That could be why she's so used, because she's devoted to seeing the best in people and when they show her the worst, they don't know it, but it crushes her.
This is really a beautiful song. One of my favorites sung by Rob Thomas. The order of this song as well portrays despair, but the chorus, set apart from the rest of the song with Thomas' soaring voice, promises hope for something better.

(As well, in the chorus, it should be "Cause no one gives you what you need" instead of "But" - makes sense since the girl, or person, is always disappointed because she expects the best, or maybe even perfection, from people, and they never show her that.)

(Oh, and does anyone know what instrument the band is playing in the very beginning?)
