To put it into terms that apply to Beck himself perhaps the record company/his early work is what was preserving him in those stupid moments with songs that forever have his name on them that maybe he's not proud of or what not. |

My time is a piece of wax fallin on a termite, he's chokin on the splinters:
This line has to mean, as time passes I am constantly getting caught/preserved (like in wax) looking like the biggest loser I possibly could which would be like a termite choking on splinters. Cus let's be honest, what would be more dumb than seeing a termite failing that bad, you're choking on splinters dude, you're a loser. Okay I had to write that cus I wondered what it meant when I was a kid then when I realized it I laughed pretty hard, it's gotta be the best line. |

I'm not disagreeing with you, you definitely know better than I do, because I've only just stumbled on to this band and know little to nothing about them, but in your opinion, if what you're saying is true, then what does he mean when he says "Trinity don't say goodbye"? Is Trinity the name of someone? And don't you think maybe it is partly a religious song that is trying to appeal to more than those in just the Jewish faith? For example in nparris88's interpretation the last lines that he/she interpreted were interpreted as basically not having a religious bias but instead were a call to all religions to get along and share the belief of your similarities such as being good (Christians Muslims Jews etc.) rather than fighting over the differences, and I like that definition, but if you have a different view on the song would you mind breaking it down a little bit? The only reason I ask is because I really like the song and would like to understand it better, rather than bobbing my head to a song that I don't understand the meaning of like most of America does. |
