| In Flames – Artifacts Of The Black Rain Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
This song seems pretty obviously about the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to me. There was actual black rain on that day, as the water passed through the ash. The artifacts of the black rain are the dead bodies the character is burying in the "empty galleries" of the Earth, which is also referred to as a "monument to lies. "Stood there cursing at the soul-dead mass with their fabled illusions, the vain dreams that passed splinters of a life rushing by in the whirl alone, silent warrior in a fantasy world" The character stands cursing at all the dead, their hopes and dreams all erased in the whirl of the explosion, he now stands alone in a completely unfamiliar reality. "as the all-mother rises and bares her bleeding thighs he disappears into her cold, icy womb" The All-mother is another reference to the earth, now barren (her bleeding thighs). Him disappearing into her cold, icy womb is him returning to the earth and dying himself. |

| Dying Fetus – Shepherd's Commandment Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This song is about bias in mainstream media that drives out dissenting voices and "controls" what people think about. | |
| Horse the Band – Crickets Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This song is about the main character being left alone by another character/characters. He previously didn't notice the sounds of the crickets because of the conversation. He probably said something that put the other off in some way to make him/her want to leave. This could have to do with rejection. | |
| In Flames – December Flower Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| well i have a different explanation for the first verse. i view it as ore about perseverance through a struggle. he is addressing the flower and saying it is the artist and the texture... etc. "when the roots that feed the peaking trees embrace the sleeping stone" refers to when the roots stop growing because the ground is cold and hard like stone. the floweryard is haunted by the lingering flower that wont die out, thus making it a "heroic emblem of life" (and also white from the snowfall) perhaps green is the clor of his death because the flower dies in spring? its one of those songs that can bbe applied metaphoriccally to have a million different meanings irl. | |
