Three Days Grace – Gone Forever Lyrics 13 years ago
While I do see the drugs relation, I believe that it's a bit less about a bad relationship.
To me, it's about ending a relationship, whether it was good or bad to begin with. The denial one goes through when someone you love leaves.
The verses are very much oriented towards underlining that the singer is not alright at all, while the chorus is always contradicting the verses, about how much better the singer is.
I believe it's about the feeling you get when someone leaves you, you deny that it has hurt you, you are much better off without them anyway, but you know you are lying. Still, you try to tell yourself that it's all better now. It's a battle between the love you held for a person and the feeling that it didn't work out.

So, lets be "against stream" here and say that this song has nothing to do with a god.
Let's instead think a bit about the video and about the lyrics and the title.

What if this song is about the fact that humans, which we see as an evolving species, is actually not evolving, but instead devolving into a more primitive species. The basic beast inside is still controlling us, our instincts and not our actual thoughts and intelligence, which is disappearing.

I think that the song is more about the fact that humans are making the world degrade, and that the world will become ruined if this continues.

Breaking Benjamin – The Diary of Jane Lyrics 14 years ago
Eventhough Wikipedia does raise valid points, saying that she fell asleep and drowned is a bit of a logicalization.

I believe that to make this song make any sense, we have to assume that she has killed herself.

Shinedown – Sound of Madness Lyrics 14 years ago
This is also what i caught.
It's not about emos, it's about the generel person who dives into sorrow and stays there instead of moving on.

It seems like a direct conversation to those people.
"I get it, your life sucks, but listen here: You can DO something about it, like I did once!"
This is what i caught.

the "Quicksands got no sense of humour, but i'm still laughing like hell" might be a reference to the feeling you get when you feel like you are being swallowed by the world, and how people laugh at you, because you are making a big deal out of nothing.

The chorus is the main punchline: "I have been through shit so deep you would drown in it." And actually more of a motivation than a curse. "You can see where i am, so get over it, it's not that bad" kinda way.

Most of the song supports this.

In Flames – System Lyrics 16 years ago
I don't think it is solely about love, i think it is more of a general feel, or maybe, as mentioned above me, it is a personal message from Anders.

Anyway, i think it is about friendship and acceptance. All of the lines that are taken as love-lines also has a strong relation to friendship. If you read through, it does make sense that you begin hating people whom throw your oppinions away, and that you would know who to blame.

The fact that he says:
"Slow I go And the wait seems to be over.
All I know Is that my life has become such a waste for you." Could be referring to him finding a real friend or soulmate, and i think that alot of the lines could also be interprentated as lines about friendship.
