I definitely agree with everyone who interprets this song as being about social anxiety. As I am also one who suffers from this, I can also say that this song hits the nail on the head and in some ways reflects experiences I've had. The song seems to capture the feeling of being uncomfortable at a party perfectly. Stepping outside to take a piss and smoke a cigarette, over-thinking every action you make and every glance you receive from the people you normally never pay attention to. A chilling piece to say the least.
PS: I also interpreted the "a soul without a key" line as being "a sword without a king". This is the way it sounds to me at least, and it also makes sense considering it would rhyme with the following line "he could not dance to anything". |

I always heard "...it was warm." However, "home" and "gone" both make much more sense I guess. Beautiful song, either way. |

Very well put. This is exactly how the song makes me feel. Hits home for me as well because I know exactly how the singer feels. Beautiful yet quite a sad song. |
